Hi Paula,
Don't know about kettles, but the Merlin a very good standard hotel in a good central location just opposite the main part of Patong Beach. Hundreds of eateries within 5 or 10 minutes walk from the hotel. My favourite is Sabai Sabai in Soi Post Office, strre right just after McDonalds & Post Office. Service great, food well presented, good value for money (not large portions but not expensive either).
Wallee & Alex in Patong, Phuket

Hi Paula
We are also going to the Patong Merlin - end of April. We have been told there are no kettles but they can be purchased for around AUD8 from Patong Hardware. I cant remember the address but it you go back a bit on this site - probably general questions - somebody did tell me the address. When are you going? Let me know what you think of the hotel, or if I am there before you I will let you know.

My husband and I and 6yo daughter stayed at Patong Merlin in Feb for 2 weeks. The pools alone were enough to convince us that our hotel was the right choice. We, like you, love our cuppa. We actually bought a kettle from Patong Hardware for $10 Australian. However, in hindsight we could have just taken our own travel kettle and used our adaptor (the one I used for my own hairdryer as the hotel hairdryers were useless). We actually left our purchased kettle behind so it may be still on the hotel grounds somewhere!!! Worthwhile asking if they have any I say. The hotel buffet each night is just lovely. 460 bht per adult. Each night a different theme and also floorshow.

Have a wonderful trip. We did.
