In few weeks, I will stay for some hours stop in KL - Arr 3PM Dep 11:30 PM - and I would like to spend it for a 5 to 6 hours city-tour + dinner.

I didn't visit KL since long time : I don't know the new airport and I never saw the Petronas twin-towers with my eyes, so I would appreciate any usefull advise :
- transit visa for 1 day ? does it exist ?
- how to book and how much to pay for a city-tour ... or taxi or car+driver from 4PM to 9:30 PM ?
- money change : how much for current expenses (except dinner to be paid by credit card) ? how much for airport tax on departure ?

tks in advance

Hi !

From KLIA to Kuala Lumpur town it takes approximately abt 45 - 60 minutes.

For the tours - you can personally book the cab at the KLIA cab counter. I'm sure they will be able to accomodate you on the few hrs rides.

Places recommended to go :

KLCC (Twin Tower)
Petaling Street - Chinatown.

RM 1 = USD 3.8/USD3.7 (approx)

Hope this helps !

Please bear in mind that around that time (rush hour), you would be stuck in traffic. The other alternative would be to take the KLIA express direct to KL Sentral. The journey takes 28 minutes and cost RM35 (one way)From KL Sentral, take the Putra light Rail Transit to KLCC(Petronas Twin Towers - RM1.60) for some shopping and dinner. I would suggest taking the KLIA Express back to KLIA. You can plan your time better. The train departs every 15 minutes. BTW, the trains are excellant.

Airport tax from KLIA is RM85.

Tks Minglmy and Sangkuriang, really usefull replies,

About rush-hours, my stop in KL will be on sunday 13 march and I don't remember if the day-off in Malaysia is on Sunday or Friday like in Arabian countries ? if it is on sunday, I hope we will not face traffic jams ?

In this case we would choose a cab -> do you have any idea about the cost of a city-tour and/or the taxi-cost from KLIA to downtown ?

Tks in advance

In this case we would choose a cab -> do you have any idea about the cost of a city-tour and/or the taxi-cost from KLIA to downtown ? <-- i'm not too sure about the cost of the city-tour.. but i think taxi from KLIA to downtown should be around RM70-100. if i'm not mistaken. There are diff range of taxi in the town different colours but the starting price would be either RM2 or RM3 onwards.. then the rest is counted by either time or KM.

It's best to take the train as it will avoid any traffic if especially you're on a tight schedule. Besides, the train will take you to the twin tower.

If you have the time to spare... you may want to visit the Chinatown. If you can bargain well.. u can 50% off from their first offer price.

Otherwise, do give it a miss. The chinese there are pretty nasty. I had a bad experience with some of them. One of them pushed me from behind when i walked from their stall. *I am small-sized*
