I have narrowed down list of hotel to accomodate 2 adults 2 children (6&12) to Dorsett Regency, Capitol and Coronade.

Does anyone have any experience of the hotels - am hoping to find 2 double beds or a double and 2 singles in one room.

Which of these is in the better location - quiet but near shopping/food

Does anyone know how thoroughly hotels check childrens ages - I have one of 5 and 12. I know the policy is children under 12 but as our elder child turns 13 in Sep, we will try to get away with it - do you know whether hotels check children passport to verify age?

When are you going to KL?
The reason i ask is because we are going to be staying at the Dorsett for 3 nights from June 24th.We have 2 children aged 7 and 9 and are lucky enough to only need 1 room .But our friends who have children aged 11 and 12 (13 in october) have had to book 2 rooms .They too were told under 12 years only in with adults .............i know from past trips abroard that when we check in the motel they check and photo copy all our passport details so it makes it hard to lie about the kids ages.
hope this helps
cheers
Tanya

thank you for your reply. I am going in late august and again in late sep. I am surprised about your comment about passports - I know that in the past they take passport copies of the adults - I think this is to allow confirmation of credit card details etc. I have never known them to take passports of children.

Do you know for a fact that Dorsett will check the passport of children.

I just visited KL last week and from among your choices, Capitol is easily the best-located hotel because of its Bukit Bintang address (literally in the middle of both shopping and good food). Coronade would be the next nearest. On the other hand, Dorsett Regency is a bit on the far end of this area so you really need to do some legwork before reaching the said areas plus the monorail.

The rooms at Capitol, though, are relatively smaller than the other two. However, their deluxe rooms in the high floors have complimentary (non-alcoholic) mini-bar plus a great view of the Petronas Towers.

By the way, I stayed at Crowne Plaza Mutiara which is just a 10-minute walk from the Bukit Bintang area. Excellent accomodations, topnotch service, great breakfast buffet and almost brand-new facilities - all at a great rate of USD60/night for their weekend special. :)

for your information, it is up to the hotel itself if they wan to photocopy a passport or not. usually, hotels only photocopy the guest who had booked with it name. for hotel capitol n grand plaza parkroyal, they only take the guest passport for photocopy who had booked under it name. as i had worked in different hotels, usually they dont do that unless the hotel laws state that they need all the guest passport to be photocopied. :)
