anyone stayed here before? they have booked us in for 3 nights in Jan 06 and was wondering is it close to the shopping centres , china town etc. what would you do in 3 days?

My husband and 8-year old daughter stayed there in April this year for 4 nights. It was absolutely fantastic - could not be faulted at all. We've stayed in some lovely Thai hotels over the years but the Shangri-la is as good as or better than any we've been to before. The staff are really friendly, the public areas are beautiful, breakfast is superb (check out the chocolate fountain!) and our room was gorgeous with a great view of the Petronas towers. The pool is very nice, though we didn't spend loads of time there as we were out most of the time. We used the concierge to organise trips for us and the cost was lower than those offered by our tour operator and we got a fabulous guide called Jason - ask for him if you go anywhere as he is brilliant. The hotel is handy for the monorail - 5 mins left out of the hotel and for the KLCC mall and park as well as the twin towers. Go there at 8.30 am to queue up for free tickets - it's definitely unmissable!
There's a wonderful Royal Thai restaurant in the KLCC mall upstairs, as good as any in Bangkok. Don't miss it if you love Thai food. Bukit Bintang is also good for restaurants and people-watching.
KL is great, you'll love it.

Susan is right. Great hotel in a great location. Walking distance to the Twin Towers and Bukit Bintang. The monorail station is nearby. Hard Rock Cafe and the more happening clubs is just across the road.

For the twin towers, could i send my 19year old son to que for the tickets for all of us at 8.30 or do we all need to be there.

Better to all go, as we only had to wait about 20 mins and there's an exhibition to keep you occupied as you wait. You can be lucky during the week and get straight in if it's not busy.

I would get there at 8am if I were you I was there earlier this month, and by 8.30 the ques are enormous and believe me people push in. Also if you get there early you will go up early and then you have the rest of the day to do what you want.

Shangrila KL is the best hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Close to KLCC, walk accross the road and there are clubs,pubs,disco. Short teksi ride to Chinatown.
