Hi all, greetings from Germany. Will spend 2 weeks on Phuket with my girl friend in August. i"m really looking forward to come back to this beautiful island after 7 years! I was wondering how much money i will need for these 2 weeks, are 300-400 EUR enough, including meals and drinks and 2-3 day trips? Can anybody tell me how much the diefferent daytrips cost, need just some "about amounts". Thanks for all sour replies. Sunny greetings from Germany, B.J.

Even if your hotel is paid for already, 400 EUR for two people for two weeks is not enough. You'd be watching every Baht like a miser. I'd plan on spending 800 EUR at least and bring a credit card as back up.

Yes I would have to concur with that statement.

whether B20K is enough for 11 days is something very dependent on what you want or intend to do during your trip. if you want to have side trips, wine, women and song, then i would say that amount would, at best, last not more than 3-4 days. just my opinion. cheers.

When I think about what things cost in Phuket 2000 baht a day should be plenty. People make it by on that and it has to pay for a cheap as well. But then I think about what I actually spend over there and I try and save money and find deals and it was a lot more than that. I keep telling myself, "food is super cheap, beers not outrageous, day trips very reasonable, t-shirts 150 baht, massage 200 baht--where the hell do I spend all my money?" A lot depends on if you plan on going to bars. That's where a budget can get all screwed up. The same people that will barter for 10 minutes trying to save 50 baht on a t-shirt or a cab ride have no problem when their bar tab is 1500 baht. You also get nickled and dimed to death. For example, you will be drinking tons of bottled water. It's cheap but that can still be 100 baht a day. If your idea of a vacation is to relax poolside or on the beach all day, you're not much of a shopper or drinker, don't plan on taking an expensive day trip or travel around Phuket too much then you can make it on that no problem. You'll still have a great time but just be limited on what you can do. There are worse things in life than spending 11 days relaxing on the beaches of Phuket.

Hey there.. :-) thanks for all your replies. Some of you missunderstood my "budget plans".I"m planning about EUR 400.- for my own. So that should be enough for 2 weeks of relaxing, snorkeling, a little bit of shopping and 2-3 day trips?!? W"ont spend the nights hanging out in bars, that"s not the way my girlfrined want"s to relax on holiday ;-). But what about the prices for some dinner? Is it realistic to spend 300Baht for every person inkl. some drinks or much more??? Thanks for your replies. Basejumper

No, 300 Baht/day/person for food and drinks is not realistic. Not impossible, just I doubt you will want to do that no matter how frugal you are. 1000 Baht is a bit more realistic. If your not careful, you can easily spend 2000 per day on just food and drinks.
