Hi there all phuket lovers.

First trip March 06. Next trip March 07. Counting the months.
We were Bali travellers, now look forward to Patong, and will continue to do so.

Firstly, I would like to thank all who make the effort to contribute to this forum. I only wish I had known before our first trip, as we could have asked advice on hotels etc.

Thanks to Alex and friends for helping with so much info.

My husband and I stayed 7 nights at the Horizon. Terrible room, old and worn. I was so dissappointed, so looking forward to staying in a nice hotel. Price was Aust $98 per night. Since then our travel agent here has told me of a number of other people have complained about the Horizon.
B/fast was boring, same most days. If we asked staff for something, then they would forget. The same girl asked us our room number every morning, I felt she didnt know us.The last morning I couldnt help myself, I replied,You should know us by now, we have been here 8 mornings and the hotel is only half full.
However the maid was very nice and talked a lot, said she would take me shopping, I believe she is honest/genuine.
The porter was also very friendly, and we arranged for him to take us out on his day off.Cost Aust $16 for 4 hours.
The car is a Toyota, A/C clean and he is a safe driver. We still write to him and his wife. He will meet us at the airport when we return in March 07.
As he is an employee at Horizon they are not allowed to mix with the guest. If you would like him as a driver,I can ask him for you.

One day we went into the Holiday Inn for a look around, whool!!!!! What a fabulous hotel. Lady showed us a Studio room and Villa. Villa is the same layout, only bigger.Rooms very clean and modern, nice furniture. So, hopefully we can stay there, prices quite high,Aust $149 per night. Through this forum there are good reports concerning Holiday Inn.
Another one is the Merlin, of course. Not sure how far back from the beach it is. Hubby likes to walk accross the road to the beach.Merlin is a bit cheaper, about Aust $130.

I had the best day out ever,we did the Siam trip

I would recommend this boat trip to all.An amazing day out.Going through the Hongs/caves in the canoes were so much fun.Look forward to doing this same trip again.Lunch was great fresh fish, noodle dishes, fruit/drinks all day included in price, and the coconut drink to finish off a perfect day.

This is my first note to u all, wont be the last ha-ha!!!!
And I'll no doubt need help/advice from time to time.

cheers

Zzzz

hi there zeelander.....good to hear your thoughts on horizon as we stayed there in feb 06 and thought the exact same thing as you did.... however on saying that we are going again in 14 weeks and yes we are staying at the horizon. we are taking kids this time and they were the only resort who could accomodate our needs.... i have my fingers crossed that this time we will have a better experience.(oh and the price was right)

Hi, We stayed at the Holiday Inn for two weeks in May and it was absolutely brilliant. We had a standard room, with a view of the kids pool and it was great. We are planning on going next year but are going to upgrade to a deluxe sea view room because we had a tour through one and it looked awesome. It will cost more but we figure for comfort, the view and the daily refilling of the mini bar it will be well worth it. If you have any questions just let me know and I will answer them as best I can.

Hi, we're thinking of staying at the H.I on our next visit and I was wondering if it is better to stay in the Bukason wing or is the main wing fine.

Hey tracy
we have stayed in both the wings i prefer the main as the kids are free. The new renos in the main wing are really nice. You can always go over to the busakorn and swim and eat or what ever when you stay in the main wing anyway so it is all really nice

can you tell me how far the seaview rooms are from the pool?
we are travelling in April 07 2 adults and kids 19 and 15...
prefer to stay in pool view rooms but I think the main wing pool view rooms only overlook the kids pool and with older children this is probably not ideal.
is the busakorn wing more suitable for our family do you think?
just wanting some feedback on the layout and suggestions for our family

Hi Dee20

The main wing deluxe sea view rooms overlook the main pool and of course have a sea view. The children’s pool is located at the side of the main wing and those rooms aren’t sold as pool view rooms. The main pool is located at the beach entrance of the resort and the main wing rooms that have Seaview’s also have the pool views. I think the sea view rooms are very nice and well appointed and I would highly recommend them. It would really depend on your budget and what you want from a room to decide whether to stay in the main wing or the busakorn wing. As you will be aware you will be able to use the pool and other facilities in the busakorn wing anyway so if you want a pool and sea view then you should consider the main wing. The whole resort is great so you will be happy if you stay in the Busakorn wing or the main wing. Hope you can get some idea from this explanation if you need to know anything else just ask someone will have the answers. Cheers, Darrin.

thanks Darrin your explanation realy helped.
Think the main wing rooms might be more affordable... will request another quote now that I know what to ask for
Do those seaview rooms in the main wing all have balconies?
I gather that the pool in the busakorn wing is the better for us and kid our age
