leaving australia in sep travelling through
malaysia into southern thailand.

Hoping anyone can tell me the procedures on doing this?

I've heard that situtions become quite tense at times with border officials demanding money in return for your passport?
This is not required by law but.....?

I would really appreciate a response and have posted weeks ago with very useful replies

I've made many border crossings into Malaysia & back into Thailand for my visa stamp update and I've never had any problems, never ever heard of any problems.

I would be surprised if you had a problem.

Ditto Alex's post. I've never heard of anyone being hassled at a border crossing - from the Malaysian side or the Thai side.
