Hi all,
We're two girls heading off to Phuket in late November and would like some advice on attractions that are NOT TO BE MISSED and some advice on the opposite - WHAT WE SHOULD NOT WASTE TIME ON.
So far we're hoping to visit Phi Phi, Krabi and Railay (highly recommended) but we'd also like to see some waterfalls, hot springs, lagoons etc but just dont know which ones are best...ANY ADVICE?
Thanks, MUCH appreciated!

Hi,
we're two girlie girls and we assume just about everything is cheap in Phuket, as we've hear manicures are really cheap. we were just wondering whether the hair dressers are any good and do they offer hair treatments (as we'll be in and out of salty water). Is there anywhere we can buy hair extentions and wigs(human hair)? How about make-up? Cheap? Good? Similar brands to Australia?

Rnetz, Makeup is available in the department stores - not that I have taken all that much notice - but there are similar brands such as Revlon etc. However, I have always found that the colours available are quite dark must be for asian skin tones. Therefore I have never purchased. I would be surprised if they had Napolian etc Hairdressers are around but personally I wouldn't bother with a cut I pay good money $250+ for a haircut and colour in Australia and would assume that this quality isn't available. Holiday Inn has a good spa which does include treatments for hair for 1000b. Here is the link to the items available the treatments are towards the bottom of the page. http://www.holiday.phuket.com/busakorn/spa.htmLouize

There is a great Beauty Shop opposite Andaman Beach Suites in the little lane heading to Rat-u-Thit road. Its cheaper than Carrefour, Boots etc.
Total Effects was approx 279baht, their anti wrinkle gear is 500baht, at home it cost around $35. The collagen eye filler (big tube) 500baht. They have a big range of L'Oreal, Max Factor, Olay, Nivea etc.
Plus lots of makeup, my sister had no problems buying her foundation in Phuket for under half the price and she is fair skinned Its a great shop, loads of products, have a look upstairs as well.
Also check out the makeup in duty free at the airport, I bought Juicy Tubes for about $18 (Kuala Lumpur airport)this was lots cheaper than buying here in Australia.

I wouldnt waste time on a "canoe sea kayak" in Pha Nang Bay (with a short side trip to Fishermans Village and James Bond Island). We departed the hotel at 8am... the sea kayaking itself took only 20 mins, then the rest of the day consisted of the boring drive (about 2 hours) to Pha Nang Bay (from Patong), and the boat trip (45 mins) to the sea kayak platform. We arrived home closely before 6pm. Total waste of a day and about 2000 baht per person. James Bond Island is also just a tourist gimmik that they try to make money from. Its a tiny island covered in stall-hawkers that approach you as soon as you get off the boat. WASTE OF TIME in my opinion!
Also, the tour included "morning tea and lunch". Morning tea was 1 pineapple (shared between 10 people in the minivan) that we stopped to pick up off the side of the road for 20 baht. Lunch was a cupcake in a plastic wrapper. Was so hungry by the end of the day! MY POINT... be careful who you book your "tours" with!
