No problems, Shawn, we brought back a heap, as we always do and they never say anything.

Make sure you go to see Mr Noon for your dvd's, cd's and music dvd's. They're all 50 baht from him, not up to 100 baht as at Hello Kitty's. Mr Noon has a small yellow sign up outside his shop at the Holiday Inn end of Beach Road. He will direct you to another guy who will also sell to you at 50 baht to give you a wider selection.

Hi spunkee10,
We have purchased a quantity of DVD's from Hello Kitty's on each visit to Phuket where the more you buy the cheaper it is. Around 60 baht. We found approx 5% of the ones we bought were bad copies. Not bad out of 150.
Customs does not really worry too much but if there is a large quantity of the same movie they will ask the necessary questions as they may assume you intend to sell them. But you will never know what they will be targeting on the day of your return.
You will find that the very latest movies at the time will more than likely be of poor quality. Movies released 5 to 6 weeks ago or ones already available on DVD are by far the best.
Finally, I will be taking "TinaPerth's" advise too and visiting Mr Noon as my prices are now a little over 12 months old and Mr Noon's pricing does not appear to be cheaper by quantity.
Hope this helps. Have a great time in the land of smiles.
regards
os2go

Hi Os2go. Mr Noon's prices will be slightly cheaper, but only if you buy 150 or so - not sure how many. All the other places we checked were 60 and 100 baht. We had problems with 3 dvd's that we got from Kitty's but none (so far) from Mr Noon.

If you ask, most of the retailers will tell you which movies are ok or not.

I don't know, I guess so. They took our mosquito zappers off us (they didn't used to have them on display as an item you couldn't bring into the country). We are the only country in the world where they are illegal. They're classified as tazars here by some bureaucrat that believes we may splash old people with water and then zap them.

Bugger, they caught me out, how did they know that was my new hobby?

Just came back to Perth last week and no worries with getting dvds through. Hello Kitty shop at back selling them for 60 baht and most great copies.

Hi Tina
Do you mean the zappers that you apply to the bite. The piezo ignitor type?
