well what a great trip. due to the cyclone in burhma the weather was a bit ordinary.we actually had to stay on phi phi island for one night as our speed boat had broken its steering in the big swell.the tour guides arranged us a ferry back, but as my family were a little shaken up by the seas we deceided to book a room for the night.that aside we drank more than ever before, going to bangla road most nights.playing the nail game etc, it was a ball.the patong merlin was much better than we expected.the breakies were great, the pools , rooms etc all very good.infact being there with our grown up kids, i feel it was better than our stay at the holiday inn.jetstar were also quite good, as for the discounted flights they were great value for money.note; if you have a late flight out of phuket, request your late checkout when actually booking your trip.we tried to do this over there and the merlin was booked solid so we had to hang around the foyer for most of our last day.i felt that 14 nights was a little too long for me, as around the 12 night mark i was done.but thats me. the suit sellers are still driving people crazy, but after a while you can have some fun with them.most days were approx 35 degrees, far better than the 15 degrees over here. austin

Hi, when staying at the Holiday inn, they provide a room that you can use to shower. It is a regular room but without any furnishings. It comes in very handy when you hang around and use the pool etc. then you can shower and be refreshed before heading out to the airport, no need for late check out. I am sure Patong Merlin would have the same thing if you asked.

I have never heard of a room like this but what a great idea. We alway's stay at the Patong Merlin and havent really needed a late checkout, only once I think, but have got one for our holiday in August as we dont leave the hotel until after 6.30pm but would have to be out of our room by 12.00pm so I would rather pay the extra for the convienence.
If the Patong Merlin have a room that you can use they certainly dont advertise it...Ronnie.

yes patong merlin do infact have such a room.but im with aussie1, there is nothing like having a secured room to use for that waiting period.i dont feel content with the curtiousy room, as our luggage sat on show in the foyer all afternoon with many other peoples bags , in the same situation as us. next time i will rectify this little problem. austin

I have emailed the Merlin and and a late chekout isin't a problem but I would like to think it is later than 2pm?
We have to leave the hotel at 6pm with our transfer to the airport and hope that a late checkout means we can have the room until then. Anyone that has done this at the Patong Merlin your experience and advice would be appreciated......Ronnie.

Hi Ronnie, I have a late check out at the Patong Merlin. I have my room until 6pm when I have to leave according to the travel vouchers I have from the travel agent.
Leaving tomorrow can't wait, but can wait for the 5.30am start.

Thank's for the advice. Our normal checkout would be 12pm so 2pm wouldent be much of a late checkout, waste of money if it is? Cant see it being 2pm so think all will be good, thank's again..Ronnie.
