Yeah, short ride into Chinatown and then Central Markets, depends on traffic also, dont go during rush office hours, http://www.centralmarket.com.my/

Capitol Hotel is at a very good location. Everything is walking distance. Some nice hawkers and also al fresco dining there. If you want to sample local hawker food, ask the concierge to Jalan Alor (just accross the road from Capitol, i think), there you get all kinds of hawker food. Lovely, i enjoy eating there.
