G'day all,
Am coming over to Patong soon, my first time OS etc. I have no clue what to take. I have heard conflicting reports that I could/could not buy clothes Size 14+. But I don't want to risk it and not take enough clothes. So is it true I can get larger size clothes in the bigger stores/markets or not? Or is it best I just pack more.
Next question: I am having dental work done, and was planning to take my own painkillers (Panadol Extra and Nurophen Plus)...........hopefully I won't need them . Do I have to declare them?? Can I buy them over there??
Last question: Can you buy your power adaptors over there??
Any help for this first time Patong visitor would be much appreiciated. \:\)
Oh yeah I forgot to ask also, is there any dirt bike adventures or dirtbike hire places over there??
Thanks !!!!!!

Hi DirtMinx

Clothes....It would depend on just what size we are talking about. But it is true that larger sizes are more limited than smaller sizes. There are lots of Dresses and skirts (beach type) that are a free size, Some tops may be hard to get in larges sizes. It will be hot when you are there so don't bother taking anything warm, you will live in lightweight summer clothes. So it would be probably wise to take some clothes with you but don't go overboard. It is really cheap to have washing done at one of the hundreds of street stalls 50 baht per kilo. Drop it off one day pick it up the next.
You wont have any dramas taking panadol etc with you as long as you are not taking the whole chemist shop worth. I always take Panadine with me in the large box 48 tablets. Never declare or anything its not a drama. You will be able to buy anything you need over there chemists are great.
A lot of hotels have power adaptors available but I always take my own. I have seen them in the stalls but I would get one at the airport on your way out just to be sure.
Not sure about dirt bikes but there are Quad bike (ATV) adventures over there that are lots of fun. Check out CathyP web
page it will answer many of your questions even the ones you have not thought of yet. http://www.cathyandgarystravelpages.com/

Enjoy your trip

Hi Dirtminx,

I borrowed an adaptor from the reception at the hotel we stayed at first time round. It's up to you whether you want or need to buy one of your own. If you are planning on travelling again then I would suggest you purchase one as Michelle suggests. You can get them at bagshops such as strandbags as well as at the airport.

The only pants and jacket I take I wear on the plane so you only need some light weight summer clothes.

But as Michelle suggested go to Cathy's travel pages they are the bible!!!!

Hi Dirtminx,

Its worth bringing a power board from home, it would be the best thing you pack! I would imagine you want to charge phone, camera ipod etc numeruos things at once so I find it handy to bring a power board - then u just ask reception for an adapter and away you go!!

When are you going to be there? We fly out 24/10 - 8 sleeps and counting! Well technically 7 I dont see myself sleeping much Thursday nite at all, it's hard enough now!!
