Hi My husband & I fly to KL from Aus. with aireasia 5th Feb 2009 staying at Tunes hotel 1 night. We fly to Hanoi 11th Feb and airasia has changed our flight to 6.30am yuk. We were going to fly to langkawi for 3 days but think it will be too tiring for us 65 year olds. Where should we stay in KL to make it easier on us for the early flight and see some sights. Our budget is maximum $80au as we are on a 12 weeks tour of Asia. We are not into shopping, would like a pool at hotel. Hope someone can help as most hotels in our price range get bad reviews. Thanks in anticipation Lyn

Hi Lyn, The patronas towers are a must but they are around 60mins drive from KL airport. I only know hotels near the city and most of them are very stylish and fairly priced. We stayed in the Traders Hotel just behind the Petronas Towers and it was a gorgeous hotel. Re: site seeing, you can get to China Town in a taxi which is about 10mins drive away, but it is quite hectic and all about shopping. Sorry i can't help more. Enjoy

I have been just come back from KL.I did resaerch for 1.5 months about KL and Malaysia and there is nothing that can really prepare you for the hotel shock that you will get. the reply you got about is not true. I cant say anything about the hotel she stayed in but I was KL for 2weeks and travel by bus, taxi, rail the works. All i can tell you about transport is that bus and monorail and train are your best friends. Everyone is very helpful, lots of tourists there also to help, really easy to get around considering I went to sunway by bus for $1au return and its a long way. With taxis' you have to hangle and its exhausting as they cheat and dont use the meter like in aust. Buses, trains and monorail are really cheap and if you dont know how to get somewhere then the ticket office will always help. You can also get to most places by foot in the city. Really easy. Your age has nothing to do with getting around. I sayed at the radius international which is on bukkit bintang and its a walk away from the city centre. Very bad hotel. I would recommend somewhere near walking distance from a monorail. All the cheap hotels are in the city. I dont recommend china town as its incredibly noisy and dirty. Really disguisting hotels and I am not a sobby picky person either. Anything outside inthe greener areas are more expensive. There are also very few in between type hotels that look nice and are cheap. You have your 5star plus hotels and then you go straight down to 2star grade. Mine wasn't one of them unfortunately. It was ok and its was a 3star. will never stay there again though. It gets really confusing on the web looking at hotels as the pictures are deceiving and look nice. But when you get there you notice that the images mustve been 10yrs old. I remeber what all the hotels looked like in the city and I can comment on them all. I originally was going to stay at cititel express and saw it a few days ago in kl and i got i huge shock. It looked like a bangkok horehouse. very disguisting and in chintown. If you want cheap then stick to city hotels eg, klcc area, golden triangle, bukkit biintang. This website kl-hotels.com is the one I used to decide which 1 to stay in. when looking at the images make sure you imaging them slightly worse, because thats exactly what youre going to get.Trust me I have pictures to proove it.If you need further help if you've chosen a few and dont know which 1 then just reply back.

KL also has a huge tourist information centre in the city. Forgot what its called as they might have a website. But its very very good. Hopon-hop off bus tour for $38 is highly recommened. I didnt do it and regret it. Saves you so much time and travel. Not sure if thats in malay ringit but I think so.

its called the malysia tourist info center. You can find it and all the good hotels on the map in www.kuala-lumpur.ws/maps/index.html. Then just click ont he map and itll show you it all in 3 parts.. The tourist centre sell the hop on hop off tickets and have all the best maps. They are so awsome. They are also in one of the best looking buildings with gardens Ive seen in KL.

Watch what you say if you dont want to sound rude or like a smart arse little boatboy. Fyi I have been everywhere except for asia and I find your reply rude and inconsiderate and was specifically for that person who posted it not for you. I dont particularly care what you think. For anyone who's reading this I am suprised as you are to this persons strange reply and it not helpful for anyone in anyway. I have alot of experience with hotels and have worked in them for 20years. I know what "propper hotel health standards" are and many people agree with me that asian hotels are below par compared with europe, america and Australia. Asia doesnt actually have a legal star rating system thats approved and is a very basic guideline. It would help if the hotels posted more accurate pics of what the hotels look like but they try post the better pics to lure customers in. The hotels in penang where way better bad quality hotels than in KL. If making comments please next time(i dont recoomend you reply boatboy as its not actuallly helpful to "lynp" making sarcastic comments about me). Please referr to her and only give her advise or someone who asks questions.

Hi to all
Can anyone recommend us a good hotel around 30-40$ in KL?
Me and my husband plan to go in August.
We are thinking of Brisdale Hotel. Does anybody have some information of this hotel?
