Just got back from 2nd trip to Patong, my wife and I went there 12 months ago this time we took 16 friends with us.as expected it was great. the people are so nice and accomodating. Stayed at the Holiday Inn and will probably stay there again next year (most of us will be going back again). One of the girls in our group was having her birthday and the owner of the Anzac bar(john) put on a bbq for us. it was a great night and his staff did the cooking and even organised a birthday cake.We had regular beer stops at the Aussie bar where we met a guy called Dong, very funny character who is an exceptional pool player, after beating us he offered to give us a chance by only playing one handed.Amazingly he beat us using just one hand.If anyone gets the chance give him a game it is incredible (we did not play for money and he never asked to either). We did the Phi Phi island tour ,atv's,zoo, deep sea fishing, para sailing (not me)and heaps of other stuff,we ate and drank too much and the girls gave the shopping quite a work out. There are only 2 things that I dislike one is the amount of times that people on motor scooters pull up asking if you speak english, this is just a ploy to get you into there timeshare, whilst i am fairly patient this became an annoyance as it would happen every 5 minutes or so. the other thing I dont like is some of the guys standing outside the shops wanting to shake your hand and virtually pulling you towards there door.Looking forward to returning next year and doing it all again.

Great to read that there is another out there who has fallen for the land of smiles.
Funny in the4 years I have been going I have never had one of the Time Share scooters stop me...........starting to think there must be something wrong with the way I look..lol,
The shaking hand thing is a pain I always smile and say no.

Gotta admit I wonder about the tanslation too...

Michelle,

I have only ever once been approached by timeshare people and they asked our ages... I was 26/27 at the time, apparently too young.. They like married couple over 30 with more then (i think it was) $50K USD income.

Maybe you just look too young!!!! smile

Can you tell me which company you did your deep sea fishing with. Also how much it cost. My husband and friend want to do this next year when we go.

Well Gary and I must look like we are made of money, this morning we were stopped 3 times in about 5 minutes, this is the most ever, one guy even said I know you have been here many times but please help me as I am doing it hard.

Well to bad and so sad, get a real job!! we are not helping you to line your pockets. We save hard to stay this long!!

With the fishing trips I wuld not pay anymore than around the 1500 baht mark.

Im sorry I can not remember the name, however we paid 1200 bht each there were 6 of us. That included a nice lunch ( made on board using some of the fish we caught, nice crispy chicken pieces, fried rice and fruit ) as well as ample amounts of bottled water and soft drinks. It was a good day and I believe reasonably cheap as tourist numbers were down a little and they wanted the business. I will look at home to see if I still have reciept.

well i would presume there selling time share apartments,
they ask you to pay 15-30£ for a 3 week holiday once a year for life,in the said apartments, you can sell this time to any other people and keep the money,
when they have deposits from punters to build these apartments they bugger off with your hard earned cash,
or it maybe be genuine and you do get to stay in a apartment probably at double the cost it will cost you to stay in a hotel, time share has a bad press for one good reason most are tricksters, they will promise you a girl and a bike if you buy into there scam,

They will approach you on a motor bike and ask if you speak English. Just say that you have already done it or tell them to take a hike...DO NOT take the scratchie card off them as you will win the big prize but will never see it, you will only lose a days holiday.

Good advice so I hope it is heeded...Ronnie.

You bad person.....if you are leaving her at home you had best do some serious shopping to take home to make up for it.
