Hi everyone. A few questions for a first-timer. Looking at going to Phuket in Nov for 2 weeks. We have 2 kids 10 & 17 years. We thought staying at Kata would be a bit less frantic than Patong, and it seems that view is backed up by forum users here. Looking for accommodation recommendations to suit our needs as follows:

1. Pool
2. close access to beach
3. Air conditioning (unless you all tell me it's not necessary)
4 Close proximity to nice eating places

Hoping to spend under $150AUD per night (so not after anything flashy, but not anything tragic either).

What do you think about self-catering apartments? This is the style of accom we usually go for, but I am wondering if we will just eat out all the time anyway because we love Thai food and it seems pretty inexpensive to eat out.

Many thanks in advance!

Hi Welcome to the forum

My two suggestions that fit your requirements would be the Kata Beach resort which is locate right on the beach and the kata palm resort with a short walk to the beach. Both good resorts that are good value. As you said no need to have self catering as there are more than enough great places to eat close by that range from as little expense as you want to as much as you can afford, after all you are on holiday!

Enjoy,

Darrin.

kata is by far the best family resort, once youve found your feet you will find many in expensive places to eat

kata and karon are good family resorts,air-con is a must have,
just a little advice on the beaches, the waters warm and this time of year get braking waves yes its fun for 2 young lads to mess about in the surf, but the currants are really strong and your easily taken out, they do have red flag warning and now only this month have life guards,3 PEOPLE DROWNED IN JUNE THIS YEAR,
