Is patong beach safe for a woman? Is it safe go to nightlife alone or ride a tuk-tuk at night?

its has safe as any where,use common sense don't wear to much jewelry don't carry important documents and don't get to drunk,
there are female tuk tuk drivers along beach side and many tourist police,dont walk along the beach at night alone,
but on a hole its quite safe,be sensable

Best to keep your wits about you, don't get drunk, avoid shady characters (and I include Tuk Tuk drivers in that), stay in well lit busy areas. Just the usual common sense that would be required anywhere in the world.

I went to Patong on my own as a single woman - all good!! I staggered home drunk from the pub at about 3 in the morning with a pitstop at burger king.
Like most places you have to have your wits about you but I found it really safe. I avoided dark alley's and that sort of thing at night time and if I wanted to see what was down them I go during the day.

Say NO to scrathies, diamonds and anything else you think is dodgy, including photo's with any of the animals they have on the street and the lady boys you get charged for it. TukTuk drivers are okay (they are out to make a living too) but ask one of the hotel people if they know a driver they could recommend.

Another thing is try not to make it obivous you are on your own. I would walk down the street with people that looked Australian so people thought I was with them and not on my own
