We are off to Ho Chi Minh next month for 5 nights. Looking for a comfortable city hotel. Any recommendations please.

We ended up booking the Continental Saigon. Recommended by a number of friends. Let you know how it was when we get back. only 10 days to go ...

We were very pleased with the Continental, although it was not so cheap, mind you we did book a full suite and it was exceptionally large and nice. Terrific buffet breakfast, internet service free, very central location, friendly staff.

We had 5 full days there, found it more expensive than we expected, we expected prices much cheaper than Phuket, but it ended up much the same, like for like.

I was quite disappointed by the high asking prices, short changing, most people did not speak any English, and the general attitude to tourists is not so welcoming. The traffic in Saigon is horrendous and if you think it's hard to cross a road in Bangkok, just wait til you try in Saigon.

Saigon is an interesting city, lots of places to see, some nice parks. Unification Palace is worth at least a half day of your time.

We are glad we went, but don't expect we will make a return visit to Saigon. Might try Hanoi next time.

Sorry Alex but you will find Hanoi is far more aggressive.
In Saigon if you catch a rip off you can both laugh it off and it’s corrected.
I’m a very relaxed and friendly traveller but my blood boiled in Hue and Hanoi.
I couldn’t wait to leave and don’t start me on Halong bay.
They just don’t care.
I won’t be back.
If my hotel in Hue did not give such exceptional service I would have left Vietnam at that point.

regards
