We have not been to Thailand for 3 years, can anyone give me a rough idea of prices of beer (most important) and meals, trying to work out our spending money per day for drink and food.

Oh dear that's a very hard question to answer as prices vary depending on the quality of place you want to eat & drink, and location.
I've seen places where you buy a Chang beer (at a bar) for 40 baht, other places at 100 baht. Imported beers more expensive.
Food as low as 40 baht (Thai food in food market), and as high as you can imagine. I would budget on 100 baht for Thai food and at least 300 baht for western food in a mid range restuarant.
sa ALEX said depends on what and where you eat,THAI meal 40 bt,beer 70 /100 bt,,you can have a nice meal for 300 bt,just have to look a round or ask the locals for a nice eatery, i would allow 1000 bt per couple for a evening meal and a beer
thai markets are good are so 7 elevens 38 for a beer 60 to 100 for a meal thai style . on the upper side 120 bt at night clubs just because it costs more dose not mean it is better have fun finding it out.
Im with you Razor, we budget the same amount, sometimes spend nowhere near that sometimes more. I have a price list for food and alcohol on my link below, its from September last year but will give you an idea. Cathy
They are right the prices of foods are depends on the quality of place and the types of foods you are going to order. And also prices of foods can change often..
