I was wondering what the best way to get to Krabi was for a day trip. Is hiring your own vechicle a good way or hiring local driver. Is it too much to do in one day, and should we stay overnight to enjoy.

Another question getting to Koh Samui, how long does that take from Phuket, and the best way to get there.
Hope someone can give me some good advice on these 2 questions.

It's quite a long tiring drive from Phuket to Krabi. Say a 3 hour leisurely drive each way. I would suggest a night stoop in Krabai. Hotels are not so expensive and you would have time to take a longtail to the beach areas.

Hire car would be the easiest method.

Fly to Ko Samui is the quickest way, about a 40 minute flight. By road (car/bus) you have to drive to Surat Thani and then ferry over to Samui. That would all take the best part of 5 hours.

good way of getting over is by fast longtail and make a wicked day trip out of it
The drive is about 2 1/2 hours but through some of the most wicked scenery

You have got to stay in PP. My fav. place !
So here's an idea,

Boat to PP - 200BT or 600 return

Stay on PP for a couple of days - dive , drink, dance, drift

boat to Krabi - 400bt return

back to PP in morning, then catch afternoon boat to Phk

boats leave to pp - 8.30 1.30 & sometimes 3
9 am pp to Krabi
Dunno about krabi times but there is a morning boat - suspect it's 8am ish

PP - Pkt - 9.30am or 2pm

Agree. The best way to go to Krabi is by boat through Phi Phi. Stay at each place for at least a night or two.
