Probably because I am a little older-not interested in buying clothes or much electronics etc. I like to spend at least a couple of days in Chinatown-an eclectic range of shopping and different goods.Good for people interested hardware items,a flower market nearby for the wife, relax in the coffee shop at Old Siam Plaza and an interesting walk along to Kho Sahn road...past the military shops etc...each to their own

Hi DRAGONMAN, sorry to bother you but you seem to be very in the know about Bangkok - we going for the first time to stay for 2 nights in November then heading to the islands, but was wondering where is good to stay thats near Koh San Road but doesnt have the noise that comes with it - we would like a nice hotel to stay but not expensive - would be grateful if you could recommend any.

many thank

Khaosan Rd and noise always co-exist so I am recommending two properties that are not in the heart of the area but situated close enough. Check out Prince Palace Hotel and Grande Ville Hotel.

I would say long Sukhumvit road for sure for easy transporation usage and restaurants and street shopping.

2nd best area would be Pratunam soley for shopping!

Need hotel suggestions? do reply bak!
Cheers laugh

I concur - siam Square is large, the Novotel on siam squared is a dandy dimension hotel and almost 2 mniutes locomote to the mbk and paragon shopping centres as surface as the sky ride. There's loads of localised immature shops and places to touching a humour to eat or reward too.
