Siam Square area 1st, Silom area 2nd, Sukhumvit 3rd.

I agree - siam Square is great, the Novotel on siam square is a good quality hotel and about 2 mniutes walk to the mbk and paragon shopping centres as well as the sky train. There's loads of local little shops and places to grab a bite to eat or drink too.

in term of shopping place, i prefer pratunam and around compared to MBK and few more shopping centers that name started with 'siam'

platinum mall is in pratunam. good base for shopping, but skytrain's distance requires a good hike under the hot sun.

that day i didn't try the skytrain, so i'm not sure which station is the nearest to platinum fashion mall. indeed i tried the boat eventhough my hotel is just beside the ratchathewi BTS
