I'm planning a 4-6 week stay (from Mid march to maybe end of April) to KL. Hoping for a bit of info.

** Accommodation. First and most important... where can I find local property rental, condo/apartment rental etc information?

I don't think shelling out for a hotel for 4-6 weeks is the best way to go. I'm sure I can rent a place. A vacation rental or something else pre-furnished that I can just live in for my short stay. Preferably a nicer unit, near the restaurants, nightlife and anything else that's fun.

Any help on where I should look for this?

** Temperatures. I'm guessing March and April should be mostly hot weather? It's not rainy season by chance is it?

** Beaches. Where's the closest sandy beach? I know the nicest ones are on the east coast... but how far would I need to travel to get to something nice?

** Vaccines/Passports/Visas/Travel Insurance. Any tips on where I can find out about what sort of vaccines I might need or if I need to apply for a VISA (I'm Canadian citizen but I'd be flying in from Malta).

** Prices. Are meals, drinks, etc (cost of living) fairly cheap based on US/CDN currency? What does an average meal (good food that fills you up, at a sit down restaurant) normally cost? What about drinks at clubs? I've read about "Beach Club" as apparently one of the best in KL.

** Phones. Phones I'm sure are readily available. Any recommended pay as you go plans? So I have a local phone while there?

Help from anyone who has been to KL or currently lives there is appreciated. Thank you!!

For accommodation 4-6 week, backpack would suite better. There are plenty of those in Bukint Bintang area. You could try Cintamani Travellers Lodge.

Cheers!

Well, to answer your accommodation question, you can try caribilik.com, it's a site where people can find cheap accommodations, kinda like a homestay.

As for weather... I think it varies, Malaysian weather are hot and damp all year round, and the weather can hardly be predicted. It's just either really hot, or raining alot.

For beaches, personally I think hotspots like Port Dickson are overrated. Beaches like those in secluded spots of Terrenganu are great.

Prices- Food are CHEAP in Malaysia! If you want to enjoy pure Malaysian food, skip posh restaurants (unless it is recommended!) and go for food stalls, just beware where you eat though, there are unhygienic food practices in some areas. Generally, an average meal would cost you RM10-20, converted to usd, should be no more than 6usd. There's alot of delicacies you really shouldn't miss out in Malaysia!
