Hi! I'm Matina from Greece. i am planning a trip of approx 7 days in Phuket with my boyfriend around the end of July 2011. is it ok to go there at that time?? i am fearing of rains....and i am confused as i have received too many opinions...
regarding where to stay, we want a cool place away from too much noise in day but in nights we like clubbing. so which beach to do you suggest? in case we don't stay in Patong, is it cheap to take taxis every night?

July will have mixed weather, so you can expect a mix of sun, clouds, and rain. But it's not likely that it will rain for very long, usually quick heavy rain showers.

Don't know what you think is a cheap taxi. You can expect to pay 500 baht from Karon or Kata to Patong. More than that on the way back if it's after midnight. You must negotiate the price before you even enter the cab as there are no meters or set prices.

i would say not to worry much about rain during ending July.... rain will last for few hours and you may enjoy the rest of the day

I´m also planning my trip to Thailand. I´ll arive on july 10th in Phuket and stay there for 5 days (if i would book the flight). I travel alone and i´ve never been in phuket before. I read about the mixed wheather and the dangerous sea. My expectation is relaxing, go swimming, maybe see some sights. Now I need your help: Where can I find this in july? Where can I go swimming and where is a nice place to relax. I don´t need party for these days, I think. I also don´t want to spent much money for accomodation. I finished my studies, now I´d like to relax;o)
Do you have some tips for me? I´m very thankful about your answers...

I hope you are not planning to swim in the sea. Far far too dangerous in July. Waves & rip currents.

i read the messages above and i wonder....is it good time to go to Phi Phi Islands for one day excursion??? as you say, swimming is not much ideal this period of time...too bad though...i die to see Phi Phi Island...

If sea conditions too rough then some ferries may not be operating. Best check out the next day's weather forecast before you book a trip to Phi Phi. The tour agent/desk will be able to advise.
