I will arrive in Patong beach next week 21 July for two weeks and notice that there is a lot of rain at present and thunder storms shown on the weather forecasts. Can you let me know if these are just intermittent spells of rain during the day or does it rain a lot continuously. Really looking forward to also enjoying some beach weather!!

Really windy tonight, thought the roof was coming off. The sea at Kata beach is white water surf. Some short rain showers from time to time.

So to answer your question it's typically intermittent spells of rain. You would have to be really unlucky to have a day or more of persistent rain. Tends to be heavy bursts of rain.

i am arriving to phuket on 17/07 early in the morning for one week stay. i have been checking weather forecasts in the internet....i'm confused...but the common thing is "chance of rain"....and chance of clouds! so no tanning i quess...what the hell! i'll try to have fun no matter how awfull might the weather be!!!

Dont worry about the weather report Matinio, they are usually wrong. We have been here (Patong)for 6 weeks & the weather has been sensational, I am still peeling haha. However today (Patong) we have had a few sudden downpours & it has been cloudy all day. You will still have a good time.

Listen to Cathy, she is there !!! The forecast always says rain at this time of year cause its a safe bet at some time in the day there may be rain, but usually just quick downpours!! Trust me it will be hot and you will tan and burn under cloud cover there!!

it's not a problem to experience a quick downpour during a day. that happened also in my holidays to Bali and it didn't matter at all.
so i trust you Cathy, since you are at Phuket now. no more paying attention to all those forecasts!!!

I'm pleased to tell you all that (so far today) it's a bright sunny day here on Phuket Island, with some scattered clouds, light winds, and rough seas this morning. Overcast skies at 13.00 today with some sun peeking through. Was stormy, rain, overnight.

Update ... oh dear 13.40, black skies, wind, squall on the way. need to button up the soft top on my car. Now hear the rain pouring down. A typical rainy season day in Phuket.
