Hi Guys

Need more information regarding diving in Phuket. I've only done a very simple 3 hour introduction course in the swimming pool on equipment etc recently. And interested in getting Open Water Diver Course.

To what know, this Open Water Diver Course allows u to dive in any part of the world ... mind if i ask, how many days is needed to complete this course and will i be issued any certi ?

Hi eijnaix, to answer your questions, the Open Water Diver course, if you complete it successfully, does confer a certification as an Open Water Diver. With this certification, you can dive anywhere in the world as a "fun diver." Different schools follow different schedules, but the way I teach it, we have two days with half a day of classroom sessions and half a day of swimming pool sessions, and two days with diving in the ocean, from a boat. So all in all, four days for the course, and whatever time it takes you to study the material on your own (I expect students to come to class prepared). I don't recommend shorter courses than that because it usually means rushing through the pool sessions and the classroom sessions.

thanks for all these info, i dont think i have enough time for it this time round as i'll be only in phuket for 4d3n.....and wanted a relaxing trip

i'm wondering if there's any 1 day tour with phi phi island that has a diving session included.....or maybe snorkeling ?

You don't say when you're planning to come, but there are one-day dive tours sort of like the one you did in the pool, but in the ocean instead. They are called Discover Scuba Diving, and yes it's possible to do this at Phi Phi dive sites.

In early March it is also very well possible to do the full certification course in 3 days in stead of 4.
And yes, Discover Scuba Diving is an option, year round BTW.
