Patong Merlin remains a very popular resort. S & G in Soi Post Office was still open last time I looked. We usually go to the Sabaia Sabai just opposite but when that's full then we eat at the S & G which offeres similar value for money food.

Hi Butler

We are staying also at the Patong Merlin in april 2012.
We arrive on the 4th of april till the 2nd of may 2012.
Like Alex said the Sabai resturant and S&G are very good,
we also like eating at Sweets resturant. Butler we always stay
in block 4, over looking the main pool which is located on the lobby side. And ask for a pool view room which over looks the pools.

Regards Rusty from Perth

Hey Rusty,

I've eaten at Sweets plenty of times. I know it's very popular (especially with Aussies) and it's Ok, but in my opinion does not really compare with the nice atmosphere & service of both S&G and Sabai Sabai. It's my opinion that the opposing S&G and Sabai really try hard to make the experience better than the place opposite. Free market really works (but the year on year rise in menu prices is not nice for the average tourist paying more & more for baht each year).

I haven't been back since 02. I'm wondering if my hotel near the beach is still there. I don't remember the name so if anyone can tell me what its like there or if they have or know some current pictures send me a message.

Somebody may be able to help you if you at least can tell which place on Phuket you were staying.
