We will be chartering a boat in December in Phuket and I am looking for advice on whether we should purchase the alcohol for the trip ourselves before we board or along the way or should we have the captain provision it for us. If we have it provisioned by the captain the cost is as follows: 80B a can for beers and 900B for wines , soft drinks 30 Baht. This seems really expensive to me. Is alcohol easily obtained in Phuket where we could pick it up on our way to the charter? Are the prices stated reasonable for the location?

First check with the charter company whether you are allowed to bring your own booze on board. Often the case that you cannot. This is a good money maker for the charter company.

Usually you can buy much cheaper than the prices stated, but beware right now there is a big shortage of beer on Phuket island due to the flooding in Bangkok area. Actually there is a big shortage of many items due to the broken supply lines from Bangkok and Northern Thailand.

Doubt they will let you, they will see it as one of his perks. It's the sort of thing to make clear before booking.
