Hi, I have been Thailand a few times. But never been to Koh Samui and Phuket where we are going by the end of this month. Can anyone help with following question:
1. How do we get to Phuket from Samui?
2.What is the fare for both ferry and bus?
3.How long will the journey take?
4.Is the route high way?
By the way, which hotel would you recommend my wife and I for around 1000-1500 Bhat.
Thank you for your help.

Leonard

Phuket is a long way from Samui so the best way would be to fly. Bangkok Airways fly across and there is now another airline - Im not sure of the name which also flys across.

We looked at going by bus but I think it was about 6 hours to get to Surat Thani and then you still have to get a bus and ferry to Samui.

Cannot help with accommodation. We stayed at the Chewang Regent. Chewang Beach was a good place to stay as it has a good beach, lots of shops and dozens of restaurants that set up on the beach about 4 pm each day.

Actually, there are some small hotels along Chaweng beach that offer a plaace to stay at a reasonable price... UNfortunally, it's hard to locate them so be prepared to walk a bit....

From Samui, take a ferry to Surat Thani. We drove from Surat Thani to Phuket and it took about 4 - 5 hours. The roads are average, mostly one lane road all the way. Not sure on cost as it was a company trip and there were 5 of us in a mini bus.
