LeonardPhuket is a long way from Samui so the best way would be to fly. Bangkok Airways fly across and there is now another airline - Im not sure of the name which also flys across.
We looked at going by bus but I think it was about 6 hours to get to Surat Thani and then you still have to get a bus and ferry to Samui.
Cannot help with accommodation. We stayed at the Chewang Regent. Chewang Beach was a good place to stay as it has a good beach, lots of shops and dozens of restaurants that set up on the beach about 4 pm each day.
