I've done samui twice solo ( i always travel solo ) and it's no problem for solo , family or whatever kind of holiday you want . If you looking for gogo bars , there are no gogo-bars at samui . Beer bars and disco's are plenty if that's what you mean by "family oriented vacation spot" .
