I intend to go to Phuket (Thailand) by speed ferries from Lengkawi (Malaysia).
Is there high speed feries operate from Lengkawi to Phuket ?
Thank you very much.

I know of no regular ferries from Langkawi to Phuket. Only ferry I know of is from Langkawi to Satun way down in the very south of Thailand. There is a weekly cruise liner from Langkawi to Phuket, but that's a very very expensive option.

I'm looking to get oto Phuket from Langkawi also. Well, actually I need to get from Langkawi to Samui and thought by flying to KL - Phuket - Samui, this would be easiest, but I can't get the flight times right on the same day. So, I thought a ferry to Phuket would solve the problem. Can anyone recommend an easy way to get from Langkawi to Samui on the same day. We can't take the ferry to Satun / train to Surat Thani as the train arrives too late for the last ferry to Samui. Would a taxi from Satun to Surat Thani cost a fortune?

Any ideas would be most welcome.
Thanks
Kate

Why not do the following:-
- Take a ferry in the early morning from Langkawi to Satun.(1 hour)
- Get on a bus from Satun to Phuket.(6-7 hours?)
- From Phuket Town take a VIP bus or minibus to Krabi. (5-6 hours?)

The express bus from Satun most likely goes via Krabi, bus station in Krabi is just on the outside of town.
There is certainly no need to travel an extra 140 klm or so past Krabi and then come back !! You would be looking at around three hours on the bus from Phuket town to Krabi and vice versa !!depends on time of day! :D

Actually... the question was to get to Samui (not Krabi), so it's about getting a flight from Krabi or Phuket to Samui. I know nothing about the flight schedules but I'm sure you could find that on the web for Bangkok Airlines on www.bangkokair.com

I know the question was about getting a flight to Samui.I was just correcting the impression that to get to Krabi from Satun you had to go to Phuket.Which as you know is not true.

Thanks for your help everyone. I'm now fairly convinced that we can't get to Phuket by ferry. We can take the ferry to Satun then minibus to Hatyai and VIP bus to Surathani. I was trying to avoid this becuause......and you may think I'm over reacting and I probably am (but I haven't travelled in this part of Thailand before) I am slightly concerned about this province due to recent trouble. This is what the British Foreign Office are saying:

"There is a high threat from terrorism in Thailand, particularly in the far southern provinces of Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and Songkhla. Attacks could be indiscriminate and against civilian targets, including places frequented by foreigners."

This is why I'm trying to come up with an alternate route. Am I just being daft?
