There's no problem in the monsoon during this time to the year in Langkawi as it is located in the West Coast. The school holidays begin in November - early Jan so you may want to avoid that period too. However, do avoid November - January as it is the wettest time of the year but the weather is not as bad as in the east coast. Just FYI, the monsoon season strikes the east coast quite badly during Oct - End March and that's when the resorts and dive centres close down.

The wettest time in langkawi is from September to November but in saying this you will still have many fine and sunny days August and December are the shoulder season so to speak. Langkawi, being in the tropics experiences rain mostly all year with the driest being January, February, March. It is however, still warm with very little variation in Temp's overall. I have found that anytime between mid December and early September is best even if there is a bit of rain. For a tropical isle experience, rain is essential for the rainforests and jungles to survive and isn't this the reason we go. Apart from the wonderful langkawians and the yummy food that is.
