Hi there,
Alex, if you read this, perhaps you may be of assistance if you may. I am staying in Langkawi this Christmas as all flights out of Osaka, Thailand bound were seemingly booked. My question is how long and arduous (time/transfers) might it be to try and travel from Langkawi to Koh Lanta by ferry. I read in a previous post that you could go as far as Satun from Langkawi, after that what is the route?
Thanks in advance. I am only there for 10 days so checking to see if this sejour is feasible.

Wow, that's a really tough route... not easy. No airport at Langkawi (??) and about the only way to Thailand is the ferry to Satun. From Satun you would need to take a bus up to Krabi (should be regular buses on that route), then a ferry from Krabi to Lanta, although I know nothing about ferries to Lanta. You are looking at a very very long day, if all the connections work out Ok.

There is some onfo on langkawi-info.com that may be of help to you.
Yes! there is a so called international airport on langkawi,not many flights though!

I know it's too late for this person, but you don't need to go all the way to Krabit to get to Lanta. You can get there easily via Trang. You could get from Satun to Lanta in about 5 hours or so.
