I take it you mean Berjaya. As far as i know, Langkawi was hit but no casualties. And since the local papers are not reporting anything, i assume the damage was minimal. Anyway, Most of Berjaya is on a hill.
Hi, I'm from Langkawi and staying in Kuah. Langkawi were spared much of the intensity of the Tsunami as much of the force was absorbed by more then 90 outer islands around main island.This include Berjaya Beach Resort. All facilities are operational. Transport to and from Langkawi has operated normally throughout. Ferry service to and from the mainland has operated normally without any disruption. Langkawi international airport was not affected with local and international flights taking off and landing normally.
Infrastructure has not been interrupted with electricity and water supplies continuing normally. No damage has been reported to Langkawi roads or bridges. Please visit the links below for the latest up-date:
