I have been to Phuket many times but never been to Krabi. What are good areas to stay? I am looking for budget accomodation close to nice bars and restaurants. Any information would be appreciated. Thanx

Hi Kadjay
thought someone may have posted by now. I cant tell you about any specific budget accommodation as I havent stayed in any. I have been past and to a few budget places and what I did see all looked quite good from the grounds.
The area to stay in would be Aonang as it would be the best location for bars and restaurants so you would have plenty of places to choose from. Depending on the time of year you wanted to go the best thing would be to book your first night somewhere from the net so you have a place to stay or get there early enough and take a walk around aonang and check a few places out. Everything is basically within walking distance from one place to the next so you wont have any trouble getting around and finding something that suits you and your budget.
take a look at a few hotels from this list Hotels you might even find something that suits your budget here as there is a mix from as low as 500 baht up. I have seen places with signs out the front of places from as low as 250 baht but as I said I can not personally recommend because I havent checked them out. Cheers, have fun!

For budget accomadation in Ao Nang. Look along the main beach road there are, for want of a better word small alleyways leading off it.Leading to a small lane that runs paralell to the beach road. There are any number of guest houses along it.And you are in the centre of Ao Nang.

Thanx for the replies, I had just about given up on getting some. I have stayed in Phuket many times but have never been to Krabi, but I plan to stay on my next Thailand trip in April 2007. I will check out the aonang area. Thanx again.
