My wife and I are thinking of booking a Liveaboard dive trip when we are in Phuket Jan 6th. We have talked with the Dive the World company but were reluctant to book a trip until we knew our schedule. We also thought we could also shop around some when in Phuket meet some people and make sure we trust the people we are booking with and perhaps save a little coin in the process. I like the idea of going on "the Junk" an old restored sailboat. Does anyone have any comments Positive or Negative. Or are there other boats we should consider? Like to hit the Similian and Surin Islands.

The Junk offers good value, and is one of the very few boats that actually does dives at the Surin Islands.
Quite often they have last minutes, so you could come and sort things out here, but it will be busy in that period of time.
