The closest to nightlife would be Hartamas area with lots of pubs, cafes...etc. Very nice place to hangout. Just a short 10 minutes cab ride away.
Closest Shopping Malls would be Midvalley Shopping Complex, very popular, just opened a brand new Wing called The Gardens there. Can check it out if you have time.
Pasar Malam? Not sure bout that.
