My group of friends and I usually stay at the Amari atrium when in BKK. My travel agent quoted our package at the Montain Silom.
My friends are spoiled by the food, staff, and accomidations at the Atrium.
Would the Montain be an acceptable alternative since it it close to al the sights and the entertainment districts? mkebob

You must be referring to Montien Hotel in the Silom/Surawong area.
Anyways, you might be missing some of the spoils you got from Amari Atrium, but Montien Hotel will more than make up for it in terms of convenience, walking accessibility to both the skytrain and subway, stone's throw proximity to a good variety of night entertainment options, lots of shopping (especially the Patpong area) and dining choices.
I would put Montien just a nick below Amari Atrium in terms of service, accomodation and facilities. Not a bad pick if you factor in all other pluses it has over Amari Atrium.
