Hi
I am planning a trip to Phuket in mid August and heard that the weather in August is not that good. What are the diving conditions like in August? Can I dive day trips (Phi Phi, Shark Point, etc).
Can I also do other non-diving activities such as James Bond Island, John Gray Sea Canoe, etc in August. Will the rain spoil my holiday.

The summertime on Phuket is when we get most of our yearly rainfall, but if you look at statistics, you'll see that August is one of the least rainy months of the period. There's a good chance you'll get some rain while you're here, but it's not very likely that it'll be wet every day all day long. In fact, it usually pours for short periods and then gets sunny and dries out pretty quickly afterwards. You may even get lucky and be here during a stretch of dry weather without rain for several days running.
Since the monsoon winds blow from the southwest in the summertime, the east side of the island (where the sea kayaking trips go and where James Bond Island is found) is sheltered and excellent for trips.
Now for the really important question: can you dive in August.... YES. We dive year round at our daytrip sites, though sea conditions will be taken into account to decide exactly which sites the boats go to. The daytrip boats have weekly schedules that they try to stick to unless conditions aren't good enough. It's rare that we have dives cancelled because of weather.
Relax. While nobody can really predict the weather so far in advance, you'll probably have enough sunshine every day (an average of 6 hours/day in August) to have a great holiday, with the added bonus of fewer crowds and lower hotel rates!

Yes, agree with the previous post.
Also take into account that not only regarding rain but also regarding wind August normally is a quiet month. Lovely diving, and not so many divers, so normally lots of sightings of e.g. leopard sharks.
