Hi everyone. Me and my boyfriend has booked our flight to Phuket for September 2008. We are still deciding where we should actually stay in Phuket. We been looking at this resort based in Bangtao ---> http://www.bangtaobeach.com
The only thing is we are stuck in whether to stay in Bangtao at this lovely resort, where we are away from the centre of things in Patong, or we should stay in Patong Beach where we may not find a good hotel deal like the one in Bangtao. Can anyone please advice me on what me and my boyfriend should do. We don't mind staying in Bangtao if travelling to Patong is very easily done by transport. Can anyone tell me if it would be easy to travel from Bangtao to Patong + Phuket Town? How long the journey would be + the costs? Thank You for any help which is given! =)

Lana01 Check out the hotel directory from this website, for locations and prices, then also checkout any you are interested in from there own website (google it)to see if they have any promotions on IT really depends what you want, both places will be nice but for different reasons. I am assuming that you are youngish! so I would think you would enjoy the activities of Patong. There are plenty of nice places to stay in Patong if that is where you choose. Also because it is still the off season there are plenty of deals to be had. We will also be in Patong in the begining of September, we go each year and stay in Patong. There are 3 hotels that are directly on the beach in Patong. They are Impiana Phuket Cabana, have stayed there 2 years ago, absolutely beautiful but expensive.
Patong Bay Garden Resort (stayed there last year and staying there again this year) They have some great deals available on their website for the off season. This resort is not as flash as some (A little older)but still really nice. We only stay in Junior suites or the Andaman Suites (which face the beach) I am not sure the other rooms would be as nice. We work on the theory that whilst we want somewhere nice, we don't spend that much time in the hotel, we are either on the beach (which is great being able to step from your room out onto the sand) shopping, having a massage or tours. So really the room is for sleeping! and storing the shopping! As I said the above 2 suite rooms are nice and quite spacious. Check out their Web site http://www.patongbaygarden.com/home.htm
The other hotel that has a few rooms on the beach side of the road is the Safari Beach hotel. Most of the rooms are on the other side of the road but they have a few beach side. I think the rooms beach side are upstairs above the restaurant. The thing to remember with this hotel is that all its other facilities are on the other side of the road. There are plenty of other hotels along beach road that should also have some good deals on. I am sure you will lots of other recogmendations from other forum members, but these are the 3 I have experience with.
No matter where you stay you will have a great time, I just wouldn't like travelling into Patong, cause you will do it more than once (which adds to your spending money or accomadation costs if you look at it that way) But Bangtao is quiter.
Hope I have been of some help Enjoy Michelle

Bang Tao beach = luxury.
I have drove to Bang Tao from Patong before, not that far anyway.
You can stay in Bang Tao and probably you can email the hotel to ask if they offer free shuttle service to Patong, else the tuk tuk is going to cost you. Sorry not sure of the cost now, friend who stayed at Laguna last year said it cost her about 300 Baht to Patong. To Phuket Town should be cheaper. Again, email the hotel to ask about shuttle service.
I would stay in Bang Tao if i have the budget, beach is nice there, quiet, nice. Really good way to relax.

Hi Lana01, You can easily get from Bangtao to Patong. A tuk-tuk would cost between 800-1000 bht return, but you may get a better deal if you barter, plus we stayed further into Bangtao than you would be staying so it mat be cheaper. I have stayed in Bangtao once and Patong 3 times - my personal preference would be Bangtao, but all depends what you are after. Enjoy your holiday where ever you decide.

My friend who stayed at the Sunwing Resort and Spa in Bangtao said she paid 500 baht from Patong to Bang Tao and that was after midnight.
