Thanks Michelle We are not going untill November still along way to go. But to get the cheep flights I had to book now. I go to Bali all the time but I decided it was time to see Thialand. Alot of my friends say it is much better then Bali so now is the time to judge for myself.

Hi All Is the shopping and markets the same in Karon as they are in Patong? Can anyone advise. What is the weather like in November? We are leaving on the 31st of October and staying for only 2 weeks to short but thats the only time we can get off work. What would anyone recomend doing for a short stay apart from eating, drinking, shopping and swimmimg. How far is Potong from Karon Beach and what kind of trasport do we use,?

Hi snoopy, There are plenty of bars, restaurants and shopping in Karon, not as busy and more low-key than Patong but good all the same - anyway you would not be far from Patong in a tuk tuk. November is the start of high season and weather should be good - but it is unpredictable! If you stay in Karon try the Dino Park mini golf. The golf is fun, then the restaurant is great (Steaks, burgers, barbeques etc), although a little expensive. Oh and the cocktails are pretty good too! Enjoy your holiday!!!

Lorraine We stayed at Karon October last year and the beach was lovely. I am not really into just lying around on a sun lounger, but I found this section of the beach quite peaceful. Occasionally you will get hawkers coming up to you, but if you aren't interested a smile and "no thanks" was enough. In regards to shopping, i found one market that had fixed price boardies and surf shirts etc at a really good price. From memory 150baht shirts and 250-300bht boardies. Saved having to barter in the heat. It was undercover and on the northern section of Karon on the beach road. We are staying in Karon again this October for part of our trip, as we enjoyed it so much there. I hope you enjoy your first holiday to Phuket. Sara

Lorraine We stayed at the Horizon Karon last year and loved it. The beach at the bottom of the hill is where we used to hang out. More or less in front of the soccer stadium. This year , we are spending 5 days in Karon and 7 in Patong, where we will be staying in self contained 2 bedroom apartments that are VERY reasonably priced, but it isn't a resort at all. So for our time in Karon, I was thinking of spoiling ourselves and getting 2 pool access rooms at Andaman Seaview. Looked at it last year, then backed out. have read some good reviews about it, so am still pondering on Horizon Karon or Andaman Seaview. Hmmmm decisions.
I am sorry - I can't help you re: the Thavorn. It does look nice on the website though. Just booked out flights online yesterday, so am starting to get excited!!
