Hi there,
I'd like to hear what people think about which beach it would be better to stay at for a honeymoon. Either Patong or Kata/Karon?
We would like to be close to restaurants, shopping and close to where tours depart. We would probably go out to a night club for only one night during our stay, and would prefer to hang out at quiet bars for some drinks after dinner. Are there just as many different activities/places to eat at Kata/Karon as there is in Patong.
We were considering the Merlin Beach Hotel, which i thought would be good so that we are away from Patong and close to Kata/Karon, and so would have access to either areas. Or given that this hotel is in a kinda isolated area would it be better to stay closer to shops and restaurants, and so avoid the taxis/tuk-tuk expenses?
Decisions Decisions!!
THANKS!!!

What's your budget like?
Staying at the Le Meridien would be nice for honeymoon, with their own beach. Still close enough to Patong, short ride away.

Our budget is not that huge, but we would like something mid-range.
The Le Meridien looks beautiful and its in a great spot. I'll have to see how it compares in price to others, it might be worth the extra money!

Take a look at Phuket Marina - in Karon - has great reviews and seems more suitable for a honeymoon, with quite a few bars, shopping etc. Congratulations Sandy

Merlin Beach is lovely, esp if you just want to veg around the resort and relax, but if you find yourself getting bored and wanting to head out each afternoon, it just means you have to rely on the free shuttle or a taxi to get to patong, 5 mins away.
For our last 2 stays we have opted for the holiday inn and have not been disappointed, so I hughly receommend as it has eveything within walking distance, massage, laundry, tours, 7/11 and right out the front is the all important shopping.
Our friends have stayed with us there , this year though its their honeymoon, so we looked at the renovated Burasari next door, and were impressed, so they are staying there for 5 nights on a honeymoon package, not too shabby or exy at all and with a pool access room too!
Holiday Inn or Burasari would be my choices in patong.
Cheers
Ang
