Hi! My husband and I are coming to Bangkok on May 23 and are wondering where the best area to stay is as far as convenience for sight seeing, etc. Does anyone have a recommendation as to a good hotel in this area?

Thank you!

Hi Ninay

Not sure of your budget or how long you are staying but my Wife & I always stay at the Pathumwan Princess Hotel. http://www.pprincess.com

The hotel itself is attached to the MBK shopping centre and also has the Skytrain National Stadium station very close by (just a walk through the A/C shopping centre) you can also visit the Weekend Markets from the skytrain plus many other areas, plus taxi's are very cheap as well.

You can always find cheaper but we always use the hotel tour desk to book our tours, but there are other tour desks in the shopping centre.

We have stayed here 6 times now and just booked for our 7th time in August / September.

Hope you have a great trip.

Daniel

If not on a tight budget, I concur with Pathumwan Princess or Siam@Siam Design Hotel or Holiday Inn Bangkok (Chitlom.)

If on a budget, but willing to go near/around the USD100 rate, you can check out Arnoma Hotel or the newly-opened Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok.

If you prefer something below USD50 but still in a good location and the two of you are not too picky (read: just clean and decent accomodations with simple breakfast), you can't go wrong with either Krit Thai Mansion or Golden House (VIP) which have very convenient locations. You can google these last two picks.

Don't forget the Indra Regent a favourite of regular visitors to Bangkok. I stay here on most trips of Bangkok, great value and across the road from pratunam markets.
