On our way back from Phuket we are staying in BKK for 2 nights and the travel agent has us staying at the Grand China Princess Hotel in Chinatown. We have already booked and paid the whole package months ago. We spoke to someone here today who stayed at that hotel on their last visit and they said they were disgusted at the quality of the hotel. They said the rooms smelt of ciggy smoke and were very poor quality overall. We are really worried now and would like to know if anyone else has stayed there and what you thought? If necessary we will just book elsewhere if its no good. Please help.. Adrian

Well have taken no chances and based on recommendations on this forum have changed our accommodation to the Pathumwan Princess at MBK and paid the difference. This hotel looks much nicer and much closer to all the shopping etc. Only 4 weeks to go!!!!!!!!! Adrian

You will be pleased with the Pathuwum Princess. We are returning here in early July. The position of the hotel in regard to shops and skytrain are unbeatable in my opinion. The hotel is nice as well and we couldn't fault it. We booked it on the internet and got our breakfasts included which we didn't have when we were here last time. Have a great time. Pam

Thanks Pam, the hotel does look very nice on the website, and the fact that we can just walk straight into MBK and onto the skytrain is appealing. It also appears to be close enough to Pratunum Markets, Panthip Plaza etc etc. Cheers Adrian

I would agree. I stayed at the Grand China and didnt like it too much, the fact that it is so far away from everything as well didnt help. You have done the best thing by staying at the Pathuwan Princess

Thanks SuzyQ I have had several messages saying the same thing. I am much happier we are closer to the action now. More time for shopping less time in a taxi!! Adrian

Hi Adrian
The Pathumwan Princess is a good hotel and much better location than your first choice. The best thing is you can just walk into the MBK shopping centre and fill up, return to your room and start again so no dragging aroung heay purchases and bags. Breakfast is good and so close to the skytrain is an added bonus. Enjoy your trip.
