Anyone here want to put faces to names on AWD? Want to get to know fellow Phuket-o-philes?

Well, there is a way to meet other forum members and share travel tips and form friendships while on holiday - the Sunday night get-togethers.

Each Sunday we have enough bookings, we will hold a special fundraising event at the Pacific Club Resort in Karon. Uncle Eric has been kind enough to lend a huge amount of support to this fun and worthwhile event, the brainchild of Captain Mark.

What it entails;

From around 5.30pm we gather around the rooftop pool, with vistas of surrounding jungle and ocean, we have a meet and greet while enjoying pre-dinner drinks and nibbles and enjoying the live music.

At 7.00pm, we move downstairs to get seated for the buffet dinner, which is extensive, with quality food. (I'm not usually a buffet fan, but I loved it! last time). The buffet includes soups and other entrees, several Thai dishes, Western food, usually a roast, selection of pastas, salad bar and desserts. The live music is continued downstairs 'til 10.30pm.

The proceeds of the evening (around 40% of the ticket cost and the 10% drinks service charge) is donated to the current benefactor - the Lifehome Project. It is an organisation which supports women and children living with AIDS in Phuket. The women also make handicrafts which will be available for sale if anyone is interested. http://www.lifehomeproject.org/

How much do you pay?

600 baht per person, 300 baht for children under 14. Cost includes transfers from Patong and Kata to Karon for those that need it, dinner, entertainment, full use of all facilities, including pool, sauna, spa, table tennis, gym, lockers and towels.

This is a real family friendly event. Children are very welcome.

Just to let people know, we handed over 14,000 baht to the Lifehome Project on Sunday - and there is still money to be handed over that was paid after the donation was made.

Sorry we didnt make it on Sunday, my mobile died when we got here with all the contacts we wrote down. Sounds like it would have been fun. Next year! Our last day in Patong today sad to leave, heading off for our last massage shortly, then to BKK tomorrow. Have kept a travel diary so will have a massive JBR when we get back.

That's a shame Adrian - on both counts. Hard to go home, isn't it? We just deferred our return to Perth.
