Which is the nicer?
We are looking at accommodation for our trip in Feb and our TA mentioned that the beaches and The Alpina Nalina (Kata) is much nicer than the hotels and beaches in Karon.
I have only ever stayed North of Patong so I am not sure where it would be best to stay!
Any help would be appreciated

Hi
Dont know about the hotel but I have to say that I much prefer Kata Beach as it is smaller and more cosier than Karon beach. Also plenty of good shopping, restaurants and pubs scattered around Kata.

Hi
I would definitely recommend Kata Beach and at that time of the year the beach should be at its best calm and blue. There are only a couple of beach front resorts along Kata at the southern end and I would recommend the Kata Beach Hotel in a deluxe room with beach views. Club Med at Kata is across the road from the beach and virtually runs the full length of the bay so if you book accommodation behind the Club Med it can be a long walk to the beach.

I would also recommend Kata Beach. Take into account though, that the hotels on the Southern end of Karon Beach like Karon Beach resort are almost in Kata, and much closer to kata center than to the center of Karon.
