Ok, I have just got back from Carrefour and the Deli Supermarket armed with the essential price guide for surviving in Phuket. Though we have found that some spirits are cheaper again in the minimarts and 7/11 shops. You cannot buy alcohol from major stores between 2pm 5pm. But 99.9% of little stores like 7/11 etc will sell to you anytime. (So does the Deli Supermarket)
Carrefour Prices (Jungceylon Shopping Centre) Spirits. Smirnoff Vodka 1 litre 725B Gilbeys Gin 750ml 320B Baileys 700ml 970B Kahlua 700ml 990B Bacardi 750ml 640B Chivas Regal 700ml 849B Johnnie Walker red 1125ml 978B Benmore scotch 700ml 349B 100 Pipers 1 litre 465B Masterblend scotch 700ml 195B Jamesons 700ml 740B Bacardi Breezers - 49B Smirnoff Black Ice 55B
Wines Jacobs Creek Semillon chardy 515B Other wines starting from 399B up to whatever 3 litre casks Pearly Bay (Sth Africa) red/white wines - 799B
Beer Singha bottles small 26B Tiger small 25B large 59B can 25B Heineken small 35B large 53B Chang large 30B can 18B Leo large 38B can 23B Guinness 440ml cans 195B
Some odds & ends Weetbix (Sanitarium) small box 12 pieces 99B Cornflakes 99B Nutella 220gram jar 97B Tim Tams 34B Kit Kats 55B for pack of 6 Loaf bread 32B 2 litres milk 72B Probiotic drinks (like yakult) 39B for 6 pack Bottles water small 6B 1.5 litre coke 25B 1 litre Pepsi Max 22B Cans coke, fanta, sprite etc 12B
Of and just in case its on your shopping list you can also buy a nice little scooter for 37,000B
Now the Deli Supermarket, its up the northern end of Patong Beach on Rat-u-Thit Rd, great shop with lots of imported goodies, meats, cheeses (and vegemite) etc and a massive selection of various wines from around the world. Some spirits are cheaper here than Carrefour and some a lot more expensive.
Bacardi 750ml 590B 100 Pipers 750ml 365B Kahlua 700ml 1125B Chivas Regal 700ml 1170B Wolf Blass Cab Sav 570B Queen Adelaide Sav Blanc 670B 2 litre bottles red/white Californian wine 590B Vegemite lge jar 535B or 6 individual sachets 90B (very expensive) I gave up after this as there is such a large selection of wine here they were all starting to blend in together lol, so needed to come back and hydrate with a Bacardi.
Anyway this will give you an idea of some of the prices. Cathy

AUD1 currently buys about THB32 I think. Awesome! Hey Cathy, any idea how much pre-mix drinks are? (i.e. bacardi breezers, ruskis and all the other girly stuff :P)

Thanks Cathy,18 Baht for a can of Chang sounds good to me. I was paying 25 Baht at the Big 1 supermarket next to the Patong Merlin last year.
Under 7 week's now, and already sick of the cold weather in Perth and cant wait to be back in Phuket....Ronnie.

Cinderella, we are getting 31.45 at the moment,(fluctuates a tiny, tiny bit daily) its the highest we have had for about 10 years. I have been using atms here and even with adding on the charges etc its still good as it works out to 30baht to the dollar. Cathy
